107.7 The Bone's Lamont & Tonelli and "Super Producer Sully" have been heard on Bay Area morning radio for nearly two decades. As hosts of the 49ers pregame show, Lamont & Tonelli have also shared their perspectives in their own Go Deep online column. So Tonelli goes and gets the job of the 49ers in-stadium announcer and didn't even tell us he was auditioning for it. So we went to Chicago for a broadcast convention and we were on air but had a break and he brings it up rather matter-of-factly.
We're still looking for suggestions from listeners on how he can spice it up a little during the games. I think the best suggestion we got from our listeners is for when Joe Nedney kicks a field goal. Fans think Tonelli should say, "Nothing but Nedney, Field goal 49ers!"
My favorite one though was Jeff Ulbrich wants Tonelli to throw in whenever he makes a tackle, "Stop by the Brick!" He's also daring Tonelli that when Derrick Smith makes a tackle to throw out, "that stop by Bitter Beer Face." I guess Smith has that nickname with the guys. He's also egging him on to say "Pass completed by YA Tittle" anytime Trent Dilfer gets out there because he's so old!
I have a feeling all of these will go for naught because he won't probably do any of them, but it's fun for us to talk about. I, on the other hand, totally would. And that's why I didn't get the job.
