49ers WR Coach Bob Bicknell Evaluates Team's Group of Pass-catchers

San Francisco 49ers wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell took some time last week to share his thoughts on a few of the players he's been working with this offseason.

Here are the coaches most notable quotes from the position coach when he spoke with the media during mandatory minicamp. On Eric Rogers:

(Rogers worked out for Philadelphia Eagles while Bicknell was there in 2015.)

"He's different than most guys with his size, his length and his ability to catch the ball. He's got really good body control. He's got a deceptive speed and quickness.

"You see him when it's just the offense on the field and you say, 'Wow, that's impressive.' Then you put some defense against him and he's still there. What you have to do is keep going to that next level when we're playing. He's got some abilities and natural abilities that you can't replace."On Torrey Smith:

"He's a top-level pro. He does everything the way you want it done in terms of preparing and all that. ... I think there's a lot of things we can do with Torrey that's not just as a deep-ball threat.

"Sometimes when you have that, you want to use that, but there's a lot of other things he can do. I can't wait to watch him play in this offense. We've had some success in the past with that type of guy."On Bruce Ellington and Quinton Patton:

"I think they can have some production in this offense. It's up to them, it really is. I think both of them show that they have all the tools to do things, so I'm excited about seeing them. They've got to go out and do it, and we've got to help them do it."On DeAndre Smelter:

"There have been a lot of things that have flashed out here on the field. He does some really good things. He's been a little bit hampered, still coming back. He's been at every practice and has pretty much gone through everything. There are times you really see him when he feels good."
