49ers Tender One-year Contracts to LB Michael Wilhoite and OL Jordan Devey

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that they have tendered one-year contracts to restricted free agent linebacker Michael Wilhoite and exclusive rights free agent offensive lineman Jordan Devey.

Wilhoite (6-0, 240) started all 12 games in which he appeared in 2015 and registered 86 tackles, one interception and one pass defensed. Throughout his four-year career, he has appeared in 49 games (30 starts) and recorded 231 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble and eight passes defensed.

Wilhoite began his professional career with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2011 before being signed to the 49ers practice squad later that year. He spent 12 weeks on the 49ers practice squad in 2012 and was later promoted to the active roster for the final five games of the regular season. In 2013, he appeared in all 16 games (two starts) and tallied 24 tackles. Wilhoite started all 16 games in 2014 and notched career highs in tackles (121) and interceptions (two).

A 29-year-old native of Topeka, KS, Wilhoite played collegiately at Washburn University where he registered 211 tackles and three interceptions for the Ichabods in 44 games (35 starts).

Devey (6-6, 320) appeared in 15 games (nine starts) in 2015 after being acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots on Aug. 18, 2015.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens on May 3, 2013, Devey spent training camp with the team before being waived on Aug. 30. He was signed to the Raven's practice squad on Sept. 1, 2013, and was waived the following day. Devey was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad on September 3, 2013, where he spent the remainder of the season. In 2014, he saw action in seven games (four starts) along the offensive line for the Patriots.

A 28-year-old native of American Fork, Utah, Devey played two seasons at Snow College (Ephraim, UT) before transferring to the University of Memphis. In his two seasons with the Tigers (2012-13), he started all 24 games he appeared in and earned Second-Team All-Conference USA honors in 2013.
