Prior to joining the 49ers, Mayfield worked for multiple companies in a variety of developer roles. His career in sports began in the National Basketball Association as a database marketing intern with the Portland Trail Blazers, which led to a role as a part-time video analyst for basketball operations.

A native of Oregon City, OR, Mayfield earned his bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology and business from Corban University in 2011. Mayfield currently resides in Portland, OR, with his wife, Mary, his son, Avett, and his dog, Millie.
