Justin Prettyman is entering his ninth season with the 49ers and currently serves as
Vice President, Philanthropy, where he leads efforts to educate and empower youth
from the Bay Area and beyond through football and community-focused strategies.
Under his leadership, the 49ers Foundation has delivered award-winning S.T.E.A.M.
education and nationally-recognized youth football programs, while building impactful
partnerships with industry leaders and nonprofits across the region. To date, the 49ers
Foundation has invested nearly $100 million into historically underserved communities
across the Bay Area and beyond.
In 2023, Prettyman launched the Red & Gold Society, the first-ever annual giving society
designed to engage individuals, foundations, and corporate partners, ensuring long-term
sustainability for the Foundation. Then in 2025, he helped establish the 49ers first-ever
Charitable Giving Committee, which works to ensure the organization's community
impact goals, strategy, and tactics are designed with diverse perspectives and
intentionality. He has spearheaded all 49ers community impact efforts abroad as part of
the NFL's Global Markets Program, including more than 50 community events in the UK
and Mexico, leaving a lasting impact on local youth in the UK, Mexico, and the UAE.
Before joining the 49ers, Prettyman spent 11 years with the Boston Red Sox
Foundation, which, along with the 49ers Foundation, is among the largest team
foundations in professional sports. As Assistant Director of Marketing and Development,
he led the Red Sox Foundation's cornerstone education initiative, the Red Sox Scholars
Program, which earned the inaugural MLB Commissioner's Award for Philanthropic
Excellence in 2009. Under his direction, the Red Sox Foundation also won the Robert
Wood Johnson Award for Best Team Charity in Professional Sports in 2010.
Prettyman has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being
named to Modern Luxury's Silicon Valley Power List. Under his leadership, the 49ers
Foundation has been recognized as ESPN's Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year, in
Front Office Sports' Most Impactful awards, the California Teachers Association's
Golden Bell Award, the Wender Weis Foundation for Children's Community Philanthropy
Award, and the Silicon Valley Business Journal and San Francisco Business Times'
community awards. The 49ers Foundation consistently ranks as a Top 20 corporate
philanthropy across the Bay Area.
Prettyman holds a bachelor's degree in public relations with a minor in political science
from Suffolk University, and completed executive education programs at Harvard
Business School and the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Most
recently, Prettyman was selected as a fellow in the prestigious American Leadership
Forum.
Outside of his 49ers role, Prettyman serves on the boards of the Silicon Valley
Education Foundation, City Year Bay Area, Silicon Valley Leadership Council, and Taste
of the NFL Advisory Committee. He is also an active member of 49ers B.U.I.L.D., the
team's Black employee resource group.
Originally from Rhode Island, Prettyman resides in San Jose with his wife, Alyssa, and
their three children, Jackson, Kingston, Nya, and their French bulldog, Luna.
