Donovan "Doc" Dressler is in his 22nd season with the 49ers and second as equipment manager. He spent the previous 20 seasons as an assistant equipment manager.
Doc originally joined the 49ers as a training camp and partial season intern with the equipment department in the summer of 2000, before taking on the head equipment manager duties from 2000-01 for the Las Vegas Outlaws of the XFL. Doc returned to San Francisco in 2001 as an intern and was brought on shortly after in a full-time capacity to assist with the team's apparel and on-field equipment needs.
In 2015, Doc served as a member of the host team assigned to the both the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos prior to Super Bowl 50, and assisted the Broncos on game day. He also assisted with events at the NFL Experience.
Doc got his start in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, where he interned at different times in the equipment department during 1998 and 2000. During that time, he also had a stint as the head equipment manager at Northwestern Louisiana State from 1999-00.
Doc was born and raised in Stillwater, OK, where he attended Stillwater High School. He then attended Oklahoma State University and served as the Cowboys' student equipment manager for six years.
Doc has been a member of the Athletic Equipment Manager's Association since 1995 and received his certification, in 1999. He is also a charter member of the Professional Football Equipment Managers Society (PFEMS).
Doc has two sons, Jacob and Rocco
