Davis Presents Glen Park Elementary with $12,000

While the San Francisco 49ers may have had a less than perfect season, they still scored big for the students of Glen Park Elementary School, thanks to the Washington Mutual (WaMu) Touchdowns for Tots program.

For each 49ers touchdown during the 2007 season, WaMu teamed up with 49ers tight end Vernon Davis and WaMu donated $500 to Glen Park Elementary School. The 49ers 24 touchdowns resulted in a $12,000 to support the students and teachers at the school.

"We are so appreciative of Vernon Davis, the 49ers and WaMu for this program. This contribution will help us build a play structure for the school," said Marion Grady, principal of Glen Park Elementary.

Since the program began in 2000, the WaMu Touchdowns for Tots program has successfully provided needed financial support for several local children's organizations and local schools. WaMu has donated more than $330,000 in total, to communities where WaMu employees live and work. The company has more than 1,500 Bay Area employees.

"Local schools can really use a financial hand, and WaMu is very pleased to be able to help. WaMu's Touchdowns for Tots has been a great program, and we're grateful for the support of Vernon Davis and the entire San Francisco 49ers organization," said Alan Elias, WaMu senior vice president.

To celebrate the 2007 Touchdowns for Tots program, Davis presented a check to the school and visited with students on Monday.

In addition to the $12,000 donated by WaMu, Davis donated an additional $1,000 of his own money to help fund the play structure at the school.

The Touchdowns for Tots program was also administered in conjunction with the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys to support education programs in these communities, as well.
