49ers Players React after 24-10 Loss to Browns

Here's a quote roundup from the San Francisco 49ers locker room following a 24-20 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Kicker Phil Dawson

(on returning to Cleveland)

"Pretty special day. It was a struggle all week to stay on point. I was half-able to do that today but on behalf of myself and my family, I just have to thank the Browns for that tribute and the fans for the response. I don't think I have words to express how thankful I am for that. Very special day and very difficult to stay with my normal routine because of all the emotions and all the well wishes that were there at every turn. Obviously, I wanted a different result for my team and very much wanted to accomplish that. Just a special day otherwise."

(on his reaction to the tribute video from the Browns)

"I patted my heart. All week, the lead-up has been tremendous. The love and support from those in the stadium today was very nice to experience and it'll be something that I'll always remember."

Linebacker Gerald Hodges

(on the defensive performance)

"I feel like we just didn't come out here and hit all the keys on our cylinders. When you do that, you find yourself having seams in the defense. We have to get back in the film room, fix things up and get back out next week and get a win."

(on the run defense)

"We weren't clicking. All it takes is one mistake on us for them to get a seam and go. We have to get back in that film room and get things dealt with."

Center Daniel Kilgore

(on his role in the game)

"I knew coming into this game I would be rotating a bit. It was good to get a few drives. It was probably a little bit more unfortunate with (Alex) Boone out, but it was good to get out there, and (I) look forward to building off (of it)."

(on the 49ers allowing nine sacks)

"We're going to have to look at the tape and look at some stuff. We'll take a look at the tape and see how things happened and see if we can fix the problem."

Center Martin Martin

(on the Browns pass rush)

"They have a great front seven. They have a bunch of big name guys over there, and they did a good job today. We have to go back, review the film and get better."

(on struggling to score early)

"We are searching for the answer. We will go back, watch the tape and see everything that we can do to improve ourselves and get better. At this point, we have to get it rolling."

Left Tackle Joe Staley

(on the loss)

"You can't take anything lightly. We're not in a position to take anything lightly. You have to take it one week at a time and not give a crap about records. We're in a position where we have to play our (butt) off every week, and today, we didn't do that."
