The San Francisco 49ers Internship is a part of our "Fans for Life" Program. It offers full time internships to individuals wishing to gain professional sports experience and make meaningful connections in the National Football League. Our internship program is built to develop future leadership talent that reflects our diverse community.
The internship program is a paid opportunity that allows participants to contribute to the organization's success while practicing the knowledge and theories learned in the classroom. While each intern will be working with a specific department, they will be given the opportunity to explore different areas within the organization through group networking events, training and 1:1 meetings.
Our interns also have a committed mentor, a supportive team and a real-world project to advance their skills and expand their understanding of a career in sports. Our goal is to create "fans for life" through every internship.
The departments that have hosted internships in the past include:
Communications & Public Affairs
Community Impact
Finance & Accounting
Business Strategy & Analytics (BSA/CRM)
Investments
Marketing: Graphic Design, Fan Engagement, Digital
Revenue: Partnership & Membership Services
Foundation: Foundation Programming and Foundation Accounting
Our interns are paid hourly and are expected to work 30 - 40 or more hours per week during the internship period.
Interns are expected to commit to the entire term from mid-July to February.
Interns are expected to be able to work flexible hours that include nights, holidays and weekends.

"My internship as the fundraising programs intern with the 49ers foundation has been such an amazing experience. It has allowed me to grow and learn so many new skills that will help me thrive in my career. I love that this internship pushed me and gave me the opportunities to try out different things that sparked my interest. The fundraising team always listened when I shared my ideas, allowed me to take initiative, and take the lead on multiple projects. I love that the 49ers organization is so inclusive and willing to help you out with whatever you need. I'm very grateful for this internship because it allowed me to have my first job in sports with the team that I grew up loving and solidified why I want to work in the sports industry."
- Kira Griffin, Fundraising Programs Intern
"As someone who was looking to break into the sports industry through a pandemic – The San Francisco 49ers, who are also the team I was raised to love, made my dreams come true. Being an intern with this incredible storied franchise was nothing short of amazing, full of incredible people, and gave me so much room for growth and opportunities. Without the 49ers I don't know where I'd be".
- Demari Walker, Community Relations Intern
