Want to meet the San Francisco 49ers 2014 team MVP?
Wednesday is your opportunity.
Antoine Bethea, a three-time Pro Bowl safety who tallied 86 tackles and four interceptions in his first season with the 49ers last year, will be at the 49ers Team Store in the Westfield Valley Fair mall from 6-7 p.m. to sign autographs for fans.
This is a free event, with one signature offered to each person.
"We couldn't play this game if wasn't for the fans, so it's our duty to try to reach out," Bethea said. "We can't reach all the fans, but the fans who we can reach out to, I feel it's our obligation to do that."
Bethea recently joined 49ers Radio (listen above) to talk about his knack for engaging fans. The veteran told a story of one interaction in particular that has stuck with him through the years.
"The best one was when I was in (Indianapolis). There was a guy out at camp who asked me and a few other players to sign his leg," Bethea said. "And I thought that was weird that a grown man was asking us to sign his leg. Sometimes you get young kids who say, 'Can you sign my arm?' But you know, eventually they're going to take a shower and it'll wash off.
"But I think a year later he came back, and he actually had all our signatures tattooed on his leg. That's a true fan right there."
