What the 49ers Said after a 27-6 Loss in Week 8

Members of the San Francisco 49ers spoke to reporters following a Week 8 road loss to the St. Louis Rams.

Here's a look at the most notable quotes from the 49ers locker room.

RB REGGIE BUSH

(on if he's angered about how he injured his left knee): "I'm not angry that it happened. It is what it is. Everybody else has played on it, so I can't be mad about that now."

(on the severity of his injury): "I don't know. We'll find out tomorrow. I'm not a doctor. I'm not going to try and be one right now. We'll figure out tomorrow after we get some pictures on it."

(on being concerned about his football future): "I don't know, we'll see. I've come back from other injuries before, so I'm pretty sure I'll be OK to come back. It's a long ways away. I'm not thinking about that. We'll start with tomorrow and go from there."

WR JEROME SIMPSON (on making his 49ers debut): "I just take it one play at a time. I just concentrated. I didn't feel like I missed a beat. I just wanted to make more plays for my team, though."

(on how the 49ers can respond to tough times): "Tough people last through tough times. Right now, we're having tough times, but I feel like this team is going to prevail. We're going to stick with each other. We just have to stay upbeat and grind away every week."

(on the locker room leadership): "We have a great character guys. Coach Tomsula says it all the time, and I really believe him. We do have a great bunch of character guys."

TE VERNON DAVIS

(on if Jim Tomsula should accept blame after losses): "Collectively, we all have to be on the same page, offensively, defensively and special teams. That's just the way it works. I wouldn't put the blame 100 percent on Tomsula, because we all have to do our parts. We all have roles and responsibilities that we have to take on ourselves to get it done."

(on the impact of running back injuries): "There has to be some kind of balance whenever you're playing the game of football. You have be able to run the ball; you have to be able to pass the ball. It has to happen in order for a team to be able to have success. We have to get back into the facility, back to Santa Clara, and fix these things. We're 2-6. Nobody wants to be 2-6. It's very stressful. It is for my teammates as well. We have to try and correct this."

RB KENDALL GASKINS (on Sunday's performance): "We didn't come out as a team and play well. We didn't play our best game today. I feel bad like everyone else. I'm not looking at myself. We just have to figure out how we can play better."

(on his promotion from the practice squad): "It's definitely exciting. You work so hard for it. But at the end of the day, you can't focus on yourself. You have to focus on your team. And today, we didn't get it done."

(on the 49ers low rushing totals against the Rams): "They have a good defensive line. They were filling gaps and flying through. We have to look at the film and see what happened."

(on his first NFL experience): "It felt pretty good. I'm confident in my ability. I kept going. I kept persevering. But today, we just didn't have it. We have to watch the film to see what we can do."

K PHIL DAWSON (on his 48-yard punt): "That was my first real (NFL) punt."

(on how he practices punting): "Every week, I'll hit one or two to make sure. That's how it goes. Any time a kicker goes down, a punter goes in. Any time a punter goes down, a kicker has got to go in. I wouldn't say I practice it lot, but it could be something that I'm required to do, so you have to be ready for it."

(on his streak of made kicks): "You did it. (You jinxed me) right here, right now. Are you going to put me on the cover of Sports Illustrated while you're at it?"
