Michael Wilhoite Signs Exclusive Rights Tender

The reserve linebacker, a candidate to help fill the void left by rehabbing NaVorro Bowman, is returning to San Francisco for 2014.

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that Michael Wilhoite has signed his exclusive rights tender.

Wilhoite, whom the 49ers acquired via free agency in 2011, will compete to help fill the void left by inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman to start the 2014 season.

In his first full season on the team's roster in 2013, the United Football League product played in all 16 games, making two starts. He recorded a career-high 14 tackles while filling in for Patrick Willis in Week 6.

Wilhoite, who told a Kansas radio station that he prefers doing Yoga during the offseason, is entering his third NFL season overall.
