49ers Sign C Daniel Kilgore to a Three-year Contract Extension

Posted Feb 14, 2018

The 49ers have signed the seven-year center through the 2020 season.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Wednesday they have signed center Daniel Kilgore to a three-year contract extension through the 2020 season.

“We are really happy to come to an agreement on a contract extension with Dan before free agency,” said 49ers General Manager John Lynch. “He is very much a leader of this team, and his hard work and commitment to our success provide a great example for our young team. When you come across players who love the game like Dan you do your best to keep them in your building.”

Originally selected by the 49ers in the fifth round (163rd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft, Kilgore (6-3, 308) has appeared in 74 regular season games (39 starts) and six postseason contests during his seven-year career, including starts in each of his last 32 regular season games played.

In 2017, he started a career-high 16 games at center for the 49ers and was named the winner of the team’s Bobb McKittrick Award, which is given annually to the 49ers offensive lineman who best represents the courage, intensity and sacrifice displayed by the longtime offensive line coach, during his 21 years of service to the 49ers. The award was established by the 49ers in 1999, and is voted on by the offensive line.

A 30-year-old native of Kingsport, TN, Kilgore played collegiately at Appalachian State, where he appeared in 48 games (29 starts) for the Mountaineers.
