49ers Re-sign QB Blaine Gabbert, TE Garrett Celek

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Thursday that they have re-signed quarterback Blaine Gabbert to a two-year deal and tight end Garrett Celek to a one-year deal.

The 49ers acquired Gabbert (6-4, 235) in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 11, 2014. Originally the 10th overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft by Jacksonville, he has played in 29 games (27 starts) completing 417 of 784 attempts for 4,395 yards and 23 touchdowns. In 2014, Gabbert appeared in one regular season game for the 49ers.

A native of Ballwin, MO, Gabbert attended the University of Missouri, where he started 26 of 31 games in three seasons and passed for 6,822 yards and 40 touchdowns. His 6,822 passing yards rank fourth in school history.

Celek (6-5, 252) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 4, 2012. He has appeared in 28 games (two starts) over the past three seasons, registering eight receptions for 142 yards. In 2014, Celek was placed on the Reserve/PUP List on August 25 and was later activated to the 53-man roster on November 27. He went on to appear in three games and registered two receptions for 53 yards last season. Celek was later placed on the Injured Reserve List on December 17 with a foot injury.

A 26-year-old native of Cincinnati, OH, Celek played collegiately at Michigan State, where he appeared in 38 games (12 starts).
