USA Football, the sport's national governing body, leads the game's development, inspires participation and creates a better and safer experience for all youth, high school and other amateur players. The 49ers pride themselves in player-safety practices, working closely with USA Football on a variety of programming to ensure the game of football is being played better and safer. The 49ers share in that mission and believe it is important to make the education and the resources available for players, parents and coaches.
In partnership with USA Football, the 49ers host the Protection Tour each year, a series of Player Safety Coaching Clinics, and endorse Heads Up Football® in all of our youth football programs.
These clinics and programs help ensure today's youth football coaches are teaching the fundamentals of football safely and efficiently, while their athletes are using the latest technology and gaining a true understanding of the game. They also ensure parents are being provided knowledge of proper helmet fitting, tackling techniques, concussion awareness and heat and hydration to take a more educated role in their child's youth football experience.
