How do you spend your time outside of Gold Rush?
I try to keep busy—spending time with family, staying active, and going to amusement parks whenever I can.
What are you passionate about?
Epilepsy awareness is very important to me. I was diagnosed at age 8, and my older brother also has the condition. I aim to use my platform to educate others on epilepsy first aid and raise awareness.
Who or what inspires you?
My older brother Marcos inspires me. He's a Helitack Firefighter who consistently puts others first and has been my hero since birth.
What's something our fans would be surprised to learn about you?
I recently started my own business making chocolate-covered strawberries called Vero's Chocolate Factory!
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day starts with coffee or matcha, followed by my commute to Stockton to work at the Police Department. After work, I hit the gym or Pilates class, cook for my family, and end the night reading a romance or fantasy book.
What's your favorite family tradition?
On Christmas Eve, my mom buys everyone new pajamas and slippers. We go to sleep in them and wake up to open gifts together in our matching PJs—such a cozy, special tradition.
What was your first job?
I started as a sports referee for basketball, soccer, and football.
What's the energy like in the Gold Rush locker room on game day?
It's electric and energetic! We're making lifelong memories, having fun, and appreciating every moment of being part of this team and organization.
Who is YOUR biggest cheerleader?
My parents, Jose and Lisa Melendez. You can spot them at games with giant posters and matching shirts with my face—always cheering me on. Their sacrifices motivate me every time I see them in the stands.
Tell us about your favorite community appearance that you've attended as a Gold Rush Cheerleader.
My favorite was a cheer camp in my hometown of Patterson. It was special showing young people that even from a small town, dreams can become reality.
Who is a woman in sports that inspires you?
49ers videographer Sarina Soriano inspires me. She's breaking barriers in her field, and watching her work has been truly mesmerizing. Her dedication and skill are incredible.
