What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am so proud of the fact that I am the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college! I've always wanted to be a teacher and regardless of the challenges and sacrifices that came my way, I persevered.
Tell us more about your job.
I am a third-grade teacher and I absolutely love it! Something unique about my school is that we emphasize project-based learning. This means that we develop lessons and assignments that fall under larger projects that not only hits multiple California state standards but are meaningful and give students autonomy over their learning. One of my favorite projects we do in 3rd grade is the "Cause Project." We have experts in their field come to the classroom and inform our students about a variety of causes such as homelessness and animal rights. Our students then turn into experts! They do research and eventually create a campaign about why people should support the cause of their choice and how we can all help. This may be a biased statement, but 8-year olds are so impressive!
What is your favorite thing to do in the Bay Area?
Gosh, I love the Bay Area. I don't have just one thing I like to do, simply because there is just so much to do! I love exploring the Santa Cruz mountains, going into the city and having a picnic at Crissy Field, heading into Mountain View to eat at one of the many family-owned businesses, or hitting at the driving range at one of our many beautiful golf courses here.
What is one goal you'd like to accomplish during your life?
Something I would like to accomplish in my life is writing a children's book! Something I have learned while being a part of the Gold Rush is that you can be so many things in your life! My teammates are such wonderful role models to represent this concept. They're teachers, EMTs, scientists and, engineers of all different ethnicities and backgrounds. They show that you can achieve both professional and personal goals. I want children to know that you are not just bound to be 1 thing in your life.
Who is YOUR biggest cheerleader?
My biggest cheerleaders are my grandparents! These two are at EVERY SINGLE GAME! They have always supported my passion for dance. They encourage me to be the best version of myself. I can confidently say that I am proud of the woman I have become because of them. I am forever thankful for always having my two biggest fans in the crowd.
How has being a part of the Gold Rush affected your life?
Being a part of the Gold Rush has affected my life in a number of ways. While being a part of this team I have had many once-in-a-lifetime opportunities such as front-row views of playoff games, traveling to Tahoe for Winter Fest, representing my teammates at the 2022 Pro Bowl, and of course the SUPER BOWL!! I have also gained a great deal of confidence from my teammates. Seeing them chase and achieve their personal and professional goals has helped me realize that I am capable of so much too! Most importantly, Gold Rush has given me a lifelong sisterhood. The men and women I have met on the team are now my family. We are a part of each other's "big life moments" like weddings, baby showers, and graduations. I am confident when I say I am the woman I am today because of this team and it has forever changed the trajectory of my life.
