Posted Apr 5, 2013

The 49ers have signed Anthony Davis to a five-year contract extension.

The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed T Anthony Davis to a five-year contract extension through the 2019 season. The 49ers originally selected Davis in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 11th overall pick.

"Anthony is a very hard working, dedicated and talented young player who has earned the respect of our entire organization," said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke.  "Having already made significant strides early in his career, Anthony is just beginning to realize his full potential. We look forward to watching him achieve even greater results in the years to come."

Davis has started every game in his professional career, 48 regular season games and five postseason contests. In 2012, Davis was the recipient of the 49ers Bobb McKittrick Award, given annually to the offensive lineman who best represents the courage, intensity and sacrifice displayed by the longtime offensive line coach. At age 23, Davis became the youngest player in franchise history to win the award. He and his fellow 49ers offensive linemen were named the 2012 recipients of the Madden's Most Valuable Protectors Award, given annually to the NFL's top offensive line as selected by the Hall of Fame coach.

Davis, along with fellow offensive lineman G Mike Iupati, are two of only four members of the 2010 NFL Draft class to start every game from 2010-12 (Jax. DT Tyson Alualu & Sea. S Earl Thomas).

The 23-year-old native of Piscataway, NJ, starred collegiately at Rutgers University, where he played in 38 games (32 starts) for the Scarlet Knights.
