Kyle Shanahan was named the 20th head coach of the San Francisco 49ers on February 6, 2017. Shanahan signed a multi-year contract extension with the 49ers in September of 2023.

Shanahan led the 2025 San Francisco 49ers to a 12-5 record, including a 3-0 start and wins in six of their last seven regular season games, as well as a victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round. Shanahan’s 12 regular season wins gave him 82 in his career, which are the thirdmost by a head coach in franchise history. The 2025 49ers featured two Associated Press First-Team All-Pro selections in FB Kyle Juszczyk and RB Christian McCaffrey and an AP Second-Team selection in T Trent Williams. In addition, the team boasted six selections to the Pro Bowl in LB Luke Gifford (special teamer), Juszczyk, TE George Kittle, McCaffrey, LS Jon Weeks and Williams

Morris joins the 49ers after two seasons (2024-25) as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He joined the Falcons after spending the previous three seasons (2021-23) as defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, where he helped lead the team to a Super Bowl LVI victory.

Prior to his time with the Rams, Morris spent six seasons (2015-20) in various roles with the Falcons. He spent one season (2020) as defensive coordinator and finished the final 12 weeks of that season as interim head coach. Morris worked as assistant head coach/wide receivers/passing game coordinator for three seasons (2017-19), assistant head coach/wide receivers (2016) and assistant head coach/defensive passing game coordinator (2015). Before his first stint in Atlanta, Morris spent three seasons (2012-14) as the secondary coach for the Washington Commanders. He began his NFL coaching career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent nine total seasons serving as the team’s head coach (2009-11), defensive backs coach (2007-08), assistant defensive backs coach (2004-05), defensive assistant (2003) and defensive quality control (2002).

Klay Kubiak is in his fifth season with the 49ers and first as the team’s offensive coordinator. He spent the 2024 season as San Francisco’s offensive passing game specialist and served two seasons (2022-23) as the 49ers assistant quarterbacks coach after spending the 2021 season as a defensive quality control coach with the team. Kubiak joined the 49ers after spending the previous three years (2018-20) as the head coach at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory (Houston, TX). He also served as the school’s offensive coordinator from 2013-15 and for the 2017 season.

Brant Boyer enters his 15th season as an NFL coach and his second as special teams coordinator for the 49ers. He joined the 49ers after spending nine seasons as the special teams coordinator for the New York Jets.

Throughout his first season with the 49ers in 2025, Boyer led a turnaround for the special teams unit. The team improved in multiple categories and ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in field goal percentage (91.7% – seventh), yards per kick return (27.2 – seventh) and yards per punt return (11.6 – 10th). He helped guide K Eddy Piñeiro to a career year, as he converted on 28 of his 29 field goal attempts (96.6%) and 34 of his 38 extra point attempts (89.5%). Piñeiro shared the lead for the highest field goal percentage in the NFL (minimum 25 attempts) and finished with the second-highest field goal percentage in a single season in franchise history. He made each of his first 26 field goal attempts, which marked the longest streak by any kicker to begin their first season with the 49ers. Boyer also vaulted San Francisco’s return unit into one of the best in the NFL with WR Skyy Moore. Under his guidance, Moore registered 1,050 kick return yards, the seventh-most in the NFL, and averaged 26.9 yards per kickoff return, ranking fifth in the NFL. Moore also ranked in the top five in punt return yards (417 – fourth) and average yards per punt return (12.3 – fifth). In addition to Piñeiro and Moore’s success, Boyer also guided LB Luke Gifford and LS Jon Weeks to selections to the 2026 Pro Bowl. Gifford earned the honor after finishing the season with 21 special teams tackles, tied for the ninth-most in the NFL.
