• As part of the 49ers annual Thanksgiving celebrations, Mabin and his teammates visited Cityteam San Jose to serve a holiday feast to over 300 people in need. Guests enjoyed turkey along with all of the usual holiday sides, while getting to know the 49ers.
• After earning a scholarship to Iowa as a wide receiver, Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz called Mabin into his office prior to his sophomore season and proposed an idea he had for a while. “He said my skill set would probably transition better for cornerback rather than a receiver,” said Mabin. Now as an NFL cornerback, Mabin has no complaints with coach Ferentz’s decision. “It’s working out for me so far.”

• Mabin comes from a family of successful athletes. His father, Wesley, played cornerback at the University of Nebraska, where he won two National Championships in 1970 and 1971. Mabin’s family also has NFL ties, as his cousin, Jordan Mabin previously played cornerback for multiple NFL teams from 2012-15 and his cousin, Dorin Dickerson, also spent time in the NFL as a tight end from 2010-15. “Dorin says me and Jordan couldn’t check him. We always go back and forth with each other, but they’re just happy for me,” said Mabin. “They just want me to succeed and do this for as long as I can.”
