Stephen Adegoke is in his first season as a 49ers defensive quality control coach. He joined the 49ers after spending the 2021 season as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Michigan.
Last season, Michigan's defense was led by DL Aidan Hutchinson, who finished the season with 14.0 sacks and was a consensus All-American. The Wolverines held opponents to an average of 17 points per game and 330 total yards per game, as Michigan earned a trip to the College Football Playoff semifinal.
Adegoke went to Michigan following two seasons (2019-20) as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Florida. The Gators defense finished tied for seventh in the country and first in the SEC with 35 sacks in 2020. Florida also registered 73 tackles for loss which ranked tied for 21st in the nation and second in the conference. Florida held opponents to an average of 257.5 passing yards per game on the season.
A native of Snellville, GA, Adegoke spent three years (2016-18) at Mississippi State University, where he appeared in 16 games and registered 14 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble as a safety. He transferred to Mississippi State from San Diego Mesa College where he spent two years (2014-15). He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Mississippi State in 2018 and his master's degree in sport management from Florida in 2021
