Jeff Zgonina (ska-KNEE-na) is in his fourth season in the NFL and second as the 49ers defensive line coach. He joined San Francisco after spending the 2016 season as the New York Giants assistant defensive line coach.
In 2017, Zgonina guided the 49ers defensive line as they improved throughout the season. Over the final eight weeks of the season, the 49ers defensive ranked fifth in the NFL, allowing 91.4 rushing yards per game, while also allowing an average of 3.62 yards per carry, ranking tied for fourth in the league. DL Deforest Buckner led the defensive line with 61 tackles and tied for the most sacks among defensive linemen (3.0) with rookie DL Solomon Thomas.
