Statistical Look at how the 49ers Upcoming Free Agents Played in 2018

Every NFL offseason brings varying degrees of turnover to all 32 rosters. In 2017, when John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan took over the reins of the San Francisco 49ers, the roster overhaul was immense. Last year, a little less so.

What is in store for the 49ers in the first few months of 2019? Surely there will be some additions via free agency. San Francisco also owns six selections in the 2019 NFL Draft. But it will also be intriguing to see which of the team's impending free agents remain in the Bay Area next season. The 49ers have eight unrestricted free agents and one restricted free agent. Here's a look at all nine players and how they fared this past season.

Gould was an absolute stud for the 49ers during both of his seasons with the club. He made 33-of-34 field-goal attempts in 2018 and set a new franchise record with 33 consecutive makes dating back to last year. Gould ended the season on a run of 23 straight makes. His field goal percentage (97.1%) led all NFL kickers in 2018 and set a new franchise record.

*DB Jimmie Ward *

The injury bug bit Ward once again as he ended the season on Injured Reserve for the fourth time in five years. For the second consecutive season, it was a broken forearm that landed Ward on IR. He played in nine games, splitting time between safety and corner, and totaled 24 tackles and a forced fumble.

_DB Antone Exum Jr._

Exum played in 15 games (seven starts) while seeing playing time at both safety spots. His season was highlighted by a pick-six against the Los Angeles Chargers, a play that also marked his first career interception. Exum added 41 total tackles, seven passes defended, one forced fumble and one sack.

RB Alfred Morris

Morris was signed midway through training camp and played in 12 games (one start). He totaled 428 yards and two touchdowns. Morris' best game came in Week 17 where he posted 111 yards on just 16 carries and scored a touchdown.

*LB Mark Nzeocha *

Nzeocha was a special teams star for the 49ers in 2018, and was named as an alternate to the Pro Bowl. He also spent some time at SAM linebacker, making three starts. Nzeocha posted 23 total tackles, one sack, one pass defended and a forced fumble.

*G Mike Person *

Person started all 16 games at right guard and won several tough guy points for battling through a painful foot injury all season.

P Bradley Pinion

Pinion posted a 39.1-yard net average and ranked tied for 19th in the NFL with 22 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

_LS Kyle Nelson_

Nelson served as the team's longsnapper for 12 games before being hit with a 10-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

RB Raheem Mostert (RFA)

A freak arm injury ended Mostert's season after just nine games. In addition to his continued standout play as a gunner on punt coverage, Mostert also saw an increased role on offense. His season was highlighted by a 40-yard touchdown run against the Oakland Raiders. Mostert finished the year with 261 rushing yards on 34 carries for a robust 7.7-yard average.
