What is a non-profit organization you're involved in and why did you choose to get involved?
I am a huge supporter and advocate for Be The Match. They are the reason I found my bone marrow donor who ultimately saved my life. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for this organization.
Tell us about your favorite furry friends... I have a 5lb Chihuahua-terrier mix. Although small in size, she is very sassy and has a big personality.
Who or what inspires you?
My mom is a first-generation immigrant who raised me and my brother on her own. She was able to maintain a successful career while never missing any of my dance events. I have always looked up to her as a real-life superhero.
What's something our fans would be surprised to learn about you?
I am a leukemia survivor and have been cancer-free for 7 years.
What is your favorite thing to do in the Bay Area? I love taking my dog to Fort Funston. It's a beautiful area with hiking trails where we enjoy walking along the beach.
Who is YOUR biggest cheerleader?
My husband is my biggest cheerleader. I would not be where I am today without his unwavering love and support.
Tell us about your journey of becoming a Gold Rush cheerleader.
I auditioned for Gold Rush four times before making the team. The first two times I tried out were pre-cancer, and the other two times were after I had recovered and regained my health. I was a finalist every year, and it was a dream come true to have finally made it on my fourth try. Going into my third season, it still feels surreal.
How has being a part of Gold Rush affected your life? Being a part of Gold Rush has pushed me to grow as a dancer, as a teammate, and overall as a human being. When you're surrounded by a group of women who support and lift each other up, you feel empowered to overcome any challenge.
