Who or what inspires you?
My mother has and always will inspire me. She immigrated to the US from Taiwan when she was 18 years old with nothing in her pockets and a dream for a better life. My mother went on to earn her Bachelor's degree at San Jose State and a Master's degree at Santa Clara University. Soon after, she had me and my two older sisters'. The most incredible and brave person I know, has been the most supportive and loving mother I could've ever hoped for.
What impact do cheerleaders have during a game and/or in the community?
We inspire the younger generation of Junior Gold Rush members to be a positive influence on the field and in the community.
Who is YOUR biggest cheerleader?
My biggest cheerleaders would definitely be my wonderful family. They are so supportive of this journey that I have taken and are very excited that I get to live out my dream.
Tell us about your journey of becoming a Gold Rush cheerleader.
My journey of becoming a Gold Rush cheerleader started in 2009, when I first auditioned. I did not make it, however, it motivated me to further my dance career. I went on to dance for the San Jose Sabercats for 2 years, and then 3 seasons with the Golden State Warriors where I experienced the 2015 NBA Championship. In 2016, I wanted to try out again for the team I've dreamt of being on since I was a little girl. I auditioned and made it on for my first season with Gold Rush. After taking a break from an injury in 2017, I came back last year and now I'm here for my 3rd season!
How has being a part of Gold Rush affected your life?
Gold Rush has taught me to work hard for your dreams and to never give up. Every season, I grow a bit more as a person and learn new life skills. The Gold Rush program not only makes you a better dancer, but it prepares you for success in all aspects of your life. I wouldn't be the woman I am today without Gold Rush.
