Biography

Goldmine

  • As a member of the St. Louis Rams, Barnes and his teammates teamed up with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis for the Thanksgiving Distribution. It is a day where families, who are pre-identified by the Urban League, can pick up a free turkey, Thanksgiving trimmings and some holiday cheer. Every member of the Rams roster donated money in order to provide more than 2,000 families with a Thanksgiving meal. Families in attendance were each handed a grocery bag of goods and a 10-plus pound turkey from the players. “This event is important to us because it’s good for us to go out and help the families that are less fortunate,” Barnes said. “Everyone is very excited and very thankful.”

  • Barnes and his wife, Lindsay, are the proud owners of two dogs, Oscar and Arlo. As a Missouri native, each offseason Barnes returns home and visits an animal shelter in Sedalia, MO, where he plays with the shelter’s dogs and donates dog food, paper towels and soap as a part of “Athletes for Animals”, founded by NHL player David Backes. “The people that started it, we got to know them and wanted to get involved,” Barnes said in 2016. “We wanted to make sure they get good homes because animals are important to us.”
