Biography

Goldmine

  • In October of 2017, along with various former teammates, McCoil joined the Los Angeles Chargers Annual Back-To-School Shoe Distribution event. McCoil paired with hundreds of children from the city of Carson, CA, assisting in picking out new pairs of shoes and a backpack courtesy of WSS (Warehouse Shoe Sale). Throughout the day, McCoil helped distribute new back-to-school shoes and backpacks to approximately 450 elementary school students
  • In July of 2017, McCoil returned to Lutcher High School in Lutcher, LA for his Inaugural Dexter McCoil Grind For What You Want Summer Camp. The youth camp, for ages 8-16 has been a life-long dream for McCoil which he is happy to see finally come to fruition. “It’s been a dream of mine if I was fortunate to be someone who could give back to my community, especially to the youth,” said McCoil who played a major role in two state championship football teams while at Lutcher. “I wanted to be a good role model to the young men where I’m from, to be able to do things that I didn’t get a chance to when I was younger.” The camp went far beyond just teaching the basics of football. It’s main purpose was to teach fundamentals of life, primarily education. “In order to accomplish a dream, and to be able to continue to do what you want, you have to grind for what you want,” said McCoil.
  • McCoil owns his own company, Grind For What You Want LLC, which continuously holds events promoting positivity to the greater Baton Rouge, LA community with an emphasis in creating opportunities for youth. In addition to various community related events, he is currently in progress of starting an AAU Basketball team in his hometown of Lutcher, LA.
