Michael Christianson is in his second season with the 49ers as the team’s offensive assistant & coordinator of football technology.
Christianson brings a variety of both NFL and collegiate coaching experience to the 49ers. Since 2007, he has been a field technician and football product specialist with XOS Digital, a digital technology and media management solutions company that services professional and collegiate athletics. In 2006, Christianson served as 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh’s tight ends coach at the University of San Diego, helping the Toreros to the I-AA mid-major national title.

Christianson brings a variety of both NFL and collegiate coaching experience to the 49ers. In 2006, Christianson served as 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh’s tight ends coach at the University of San Diego, helping the Toreros to the I-AA mid-major national title.
Prior to San Diego, Christianson was the senior administrative assistant for football at the University of Nebraska, overseeing the daily operations of the football program from 2004-06.
Christianson made his NFL coaching debut as the assistant offensive line coach for the 2002 Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before making the jump to the NFL, Christianson spent 10 years in the collegiate coaching ranks, coaching tight ends at Montana State (2000-01) and running backs at both Portland State (1996-99) and Lewis and Clark College (1995). He also tutored the tight ends and offensive line at Western Oregon from 1992-94.
Christianson played football for three years at Western Oregon, where he graduated in 1992. He went on to earn a master’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in administration and computer applications from Western Oregon in 1995.
Christianson and his wife, Tracy, have two sons, Taylor and Cameron.
