1. Miller Time

Von Miller sported his signature stylish sunglasses and a cowboy hat, on a humid day in Dallas. The NFL star was there to support a friend, and in doing so, he spoke highly of his Week 7 opponents in the 2014 regular season.

The San Francisco 49ers have long been observed by Miller, the fourth-year outside linebacker for the Denver Broncos.

“I’ve got a lot of ties to the 49ers,” Miller, a two-time Pro Bowler, said at Michael Crabtree’s youth football camp earlier this month.

Miller’s family also took in 49ers defensive tackle Tony Jerod-Eddie during their days playing at DeSoto High School. The two would go on to play at Texas A&M. Miller has remained close with the third-year defensive lineman as well as San Francisco’s standout pass-rusher Aldon Smith.

“It’s definitely a game that I’ve been looking forward to,” said Miller, who appeared in just nine games in 2013 due to a league suspension and a season-ending knee injury.

Moreover, Miller has all four of Denver’s games against the NFC West circled on his calendar.

“It’s definitely the toughest division in the NFL,” the 25-year old linebacker said. “I’m looking forward to playing all those guys. I’m looking forward to playing the whole NFC West with Seattle, the Rams and the Cardinals and just going out and competing with those guys.”

In regards to the 49ers, Miller said he’s anticipating his first regular season action against the team he’s faced over the past two preseasons.

“This is going to be for all the marbles,” Miller said.

The Broncos linebacker, a dominant defender in his own right with 35 sacks accumulated in 40 career games, couldn't help but ponder what it’s going to be like when Patrick Willis and company try to defend Denver’s high-octane offense which is led by Peyton Manning.

“I’ll be a good matchup,” Miller said.

One More Thought…

Miller isn’t surprised by Jerod-Eddie’s recent production after going undrafted out of college.

“He’s gotten better every year,” Miller said of his close friend. “It’s not surprising some of the stuff he’s been doing. I’ve been playing with him since junior high school and went to college with him. I know the type of player he is... I know he’s always been capable of it and I know he’s got bigger things coming this year.”
