Injury Updates on Vernon Davis, Carson Palmer

Posted Sep 16, 2014

While at work, or from the couch, here are five bits of information for 49ers fans to consume.

Today's Niners Daily has five things you need to know. Seriously.

1. Davis Avoids Major Injury

According to CSN Bay Area, Vernon Davis did not sustain a significant left ankle injury against the Chicago Bears. Davis missed the majority of the fourth quarter after making an 8-yard reception. The starting tight end is believed to have suffered a bone bruise, according to CSN's source.

2. Harbaugh Knows the Business

"We’re in the bounce-back business," the coach told KNBR. "That’s what we have to do, win the next game."

Harbaugh shared many of the same updates as he provided the local media on Monday. The 49ers coach stressed that his locker room is adept at handling difficult losses like Sunday's 28-20 defeat to the Chicago Bears.

"We weren’t able to finish it off," Harbaugh said. "That hurt. That was a tough one, but fortunately we have a tough team. I know we’ll respond."

3. Carson Palmer in Limbo for Sunday

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is still waiting to see if his injured shoulder will be ready for a Week 3 matchup with the 49ers.

Palmer was scratched from the lineup before Arizona's Week 2 road win over the New York Giants. Drew Stanton stepped up and led the Cardinals to an impressive win.

Arizona continues to monitor Palmer's shoulder, one that is hampered by a nerve problem. Coach Bruce Arians said Palmer is still able to start, even if he misses practice this week. "He's getting every treatment known to man," Arians told AZCardinals.com. "He's got more needles sticking in him half the day than most of us in our lifetime."

4. Must-see TV

This week's episode of "The Faithful" covers 49ers fans in enemy territory. It's especially relevant this week.
