Former 49ers QB Shaun Hill to Start for Rams

Posted Aug 26, 2014

Today's Niners Daily report takes you around the NFL to look at 32 headlines, including one that features a former 49ers quarterback.

THE VAULT

We start today's Niners Daily with some throwback material.

Why?

Because Shaun Hill looks to be St. Louis' starting quarterback after Sam Braford suffered a torn ACL in the third preseason game.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Hill, the former 49ers quarterback, will be St. Louis' first-string signal-caller.

"I think it's important once you make a change for whatever reason, you stick with it," Fisher told ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner. "And we're sticking with this."

Hill started 16 games for San Francisco from 2007 to '09. He also was a regular on TV49, 49ers.com's video production channel which has since been re-branded as 49ers Studios. Hill used to co-host "The Joe Show" and he even was hilarious in this one-time gem, "Shaun Hill's Fan Mail."

Hill hasn't started a game since 2010, but it appears he'll start the regular season for the Rams, who open up at home against the Minnesota Vikings.

Hill would face his former team on "Monday Night Football" in Week 6 and again on the road in Week 9.

St. Louis' quarterback news is one of 32 notable headlines around the NFL.

We take a look at Hill's new role and other headlines in this ND report.
