1. Control Room Takes Shape

There are 50 days until the first game at Levi’s® Stadium between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders.

Video boards and a state-of-the-art control room will be essential for goal celebration graphics to bring the game to life.

49ers Executive Producer Robert Alberino updated fans on the progress of the control room with this photo he posted on Twitter.

It’s truly a sight to be seen.

On August 2, the only question left to be answered is… “Are you not entertained?”

2. World Cup at Levi’s® Stadium?

Reports surfaced on Thursday that FIFA had contacted the United States about hosting the World Cup in 2022.

However, Qatar is currently scheduled to be the host nation and United States Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati said FIFA has yet to contact him about moving the World Cup stateside.

"Simply not true," Gulati told the NY Times on Thursday evening. "They haven't asked us and I cannot imagine it happening anytime soon."

Either way, a 2022 World Cup match in Santa Clara is fun to imagine.

Whether you're a fan of soccer or not, the first game played at Levi's® Stadium is going to be one to remember. Tickets are still available for the Earthquakes vs. Soundser - GET TICKETS.

3. Monday Morning General Manager

The term “Monday Morning Quarterback” was coined for those who second-guess decisions made by their favorite players and coaches during Sunday NFL games.

General manager Trent Baalke has avoid second-guessing, guiding the 49ers to three consecutive NFC Championship Game appearances to go along with one Super Bowl appearance.

That didn’t stop Greg A. Bedard at Sports Illustrated’s Monday Morning Quarterback from peeling back the onion and getting to know the human side of Baalke.

It’s a fantastic article about Baalke’s background and how he came to lead football decisions for the 49ers.

CEO Jed York recalled how he decided that Baalke was the best fit to be the 49ers GM.

He’s not somebody who angled for it, but he’s somebody who prepared for it,” York said. “He hands down had a better vision of what we were looking for as an organization.

4. Chiefs Cut Brandon Flowers
