Jerry Rice Returns to Reality TV

Posted Oct 8, 2013

Hall of Fame 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice is returning to reality TV.

Jerry Rice loves to compete.

So much so, the Hall of Fame wide receiver of the San Francisco 49ers will be challenging himself as a part of another reality TV show, “Big Break NFL.”

The series debuts Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m. PT on the Golf Channel.

Rice, a former “Dancing with the Stars” runner-up, will be one of six former NFL players competing on the 20th season of the Golf Channel’s “Big Break” series.

Along with Rice, former NFL stars Tim Brown, Marc Bulger, Al Del Greco, Chris Doleman and Mark Rypien, will compete with two Big Break competitors (one male and one female) to form a three-person team.

The golfers will be looking to win $50,000 for the NFL star’s designated charity, plus 2014 PGA and LPGA tour exemptions and other prizes for the Big Break competitors.

“I have been a fan of Big Break for a long time, and I wanted to experience the pressure and excitement of competing on this series first-hand,” Rice told the Golf Channel back in July. “The nerves we all faced on this show – knowing that everything potentially was on the line for your team with one golf shot – are experiences I will never forget.”

Rice is a 1 handicap and has previously received tour exemptions to play in the Nationwide tour, now currently known as the Web.com tour.

The 49ers legend has been promoting the show on the East Coast and shared some of the highlights of his experiences on his Instagram account.
