The San Francisco 49ers trade for cornerback Eric Wright fell through after the veteran defensive back failed his physical early Monday morning.
"He didn't pass his physical," head coach Jim Harbaugh said, confirming a report from the NFL Network. "He's not with the team,"
Wright appeared to be in line to compete for a role with San Francisco's deep cornerback group when the 49ers announced on Friday they had agreed to a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to acquire Wright, a 28-year-old San Francisco native. However, the deal was not executed following Wright's failed physical. As a result, the 49ers will not send an undisclosed 2014 draft pick to the Buccaneers. Wright will revert back to Tampa Bay's roster.
