With Bethea on Board, How to Say 49ers Names

The 49ers new safety's goes by one true pronunciation. He's not the only San Francisco player with a surname that needs clarification.

With the 49ers addition of Antoine Bethea – it’s pronounced beh-THAY – we thought the time would be right to review the correct pronunciations of players’ names.

“I’ve heard it a million different ways,” Bethea said of his surname on Wednesday.

The Indianapolis-turned-San Francisco safety, who signed a four-year free agent contract on Tuesday, won’t be alone among his new teammates.
