Walt Easley Passes Away at 55

Former 49ers RB Walt Easley has passed away at the age of 55.



Former San Francisco 49ers running back Walt Easley passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, in his hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, at the age of 55.

Easley spent his two-year NFL career with the 49ers, playing in 13 games over two seasons from 1981-82. He was a part of San Francisco’s first Super Bowl team, which defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21 in Super Bowl XVI on January 24, 1982.

In his career, Easley rushed for 235 yards on 81 carries and caught nine passes for 62 yards. He scored the game-winning touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 1, 1981, on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter to seal San Francisco’s 17-14 victory.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 23 at Emmanuel Baptist Church (1401 Washington Street West, Charleston, WV 25387)
