Staley Entertains on Warriors Twitter Account

Posted Oct 8, 2013

Joe Staley took over the Golden State Warriors Twitter account and provided quality NBA analysis.

Joe Staley provided in-game entertainment as the Golden State Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings 94-81 in preseason NBA action.

The 49ers left tackle took over the Warriors’ official Twitter account in the first quarter, returning the favor after Warriors forward Andre Iguodala co-authored @49ers tweets in the preseason.

Staley dropped plenty of basketball buzz words during the Warriors win. He referenced Jimmy Chitwood of "Hoosiers" and made sport of teammate Jonathan Goodwin. Staley often references how the 49ers center had a basketball history with Golden State center Jermaine O’Neal.

Staley’s Twitter takeover experience included several highlights:

The 49ers left tackle was shown on the big screen at Oracle Arena. The mixed crowd of 49ers and Raiders fans showed their honest reaction to the offensive lineman when he danced around.

Warriors beat writer Marcus Thompson offered a fair assessment of the dance performance.

Staley’s ribbing of Goodwin was one of the highlights of the night. The 49ers left tackle shared the Goodwin/O’Neal history and referenced it throughout the first quarter. To his credit, Goodwin was a good sport about it.

Besides Goodwin, Staley brought out a handful of his 49ers teammates to check out the game.

As for the rest of Staley’s comical basketball analysis – the 49ers tackle wasn’t shy about dropping his hoops knowledge. Staley enjoyed the “dunkers” and the “fundamentals” of the Warriors.

Staley’s takeover was also well received by Bay Area sports fans.
