Morning Tailgate: Roman Talks Coaching Future

Posted Feb 7, 2014

San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman discussed his coaching future in a recent radio appearance.

According to his boss, Greg Roman is worthy of being a head coach in the National Football League.

Jim Harbaugh spoke glowingly about many of his top assistants when reports surfaced about his coordinators being rumored as head coaching candidates.

Roman, San Francisco's offensive coordinator, discussed his coaching future in a recent appeance on 97.3 ESPN, an Atlantic City radio station.

"Some people want to be an assistant coach and that's all they want to do," Roman said, via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. "And some people want to be a head coach and that's what their goal is. I think we're all very goal-driven. And I think the time will come (for me)."

Roman told the station he interviewed for the Minnesota Vikings head job, a gig that eventually went to former Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Greg Zimmer.

"It was a great experience for me," Roman said of his first head-coaching interview in the NFL. "The people I met with were very impressive... Just going through with that process this year was a big step for me."
