Morning Tailgate: No Contact on Nnamdi

Posted Sep 5, 2013

Veteran cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha wore a blue, non-contact jersey during Wednesday's practice.

The 49ers had two players on Wednesday’s injury report.

Patrick Willis, one month removed from a fractured hand, was not one of them.

Nnamdi Asomugha was the notable name. The 11-year veteran cornerback was limited in practice with a collarbone injury. Second-year running back LaMichael James (knee) did not participate in practice.

Asomugha wore a blue, non-contact jersey in practice. He wore the same jersey the week prior to the team’s preseason finale in San Diego. Asomugha also did not play in the game.

12:30 UPDATE

Vic Fangio said Asomugha will be the team's No. 3 cornerback against the Green Bay Packers and is should be healthy to play.

"We're confident he'll be able to play on Sunday," the 49ers defensive coordinator said.

Asomugha will mostly be lined up against Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
