Morning Tailgate: Gore Still Hungry

Posted Jul 30, 2013

Frank Gore is not ready to take a backseat in the 49ers rushing attack.

Frank Gore is not ready to take a backseat in the 49ers rushing attack.

The 30-year-old franchise leader in carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns wants to prove he can still produce in his ninth season.

"I respect all my guys here. I'm glad they push me," Gore told Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. "But I'm being real: I train like I still want to be 'The Man.' I really do.

"I'm not ready to pass the baton yet."

Gore looks like he’s the same running back he’s been for the 49ers. Watch any team period of training camp and you can still see No. 21 dart through the line of scrimmage and pick up a big chunk of yardage.

Gore’s aggressive running style will be on display once again when the 49ers hold a morning practice on Tuesday. Following the session, Vic Fangio, Patrick Willis and Alex Boone will speak to the media at 1:30 p.m. PT.
