For 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, his unit’s performance over the weekend in Seattle came down to one fact.
“We were the second-best defense on the field Sunday night,” Fangio said on KNBR Tuesday morning, “and we needed to be the best.
“(The Seahawks defense) did a good job against our running game and we had trouble getting anything going in the passing game. Kudos to those guys. They played great.”
Following San Francisco’s 29-3 loss to its NFC West rival, Fangio and Co. are readying for another challenge: Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
The 49ers effectiveness in rushing Luck will help determine the outcome this Sunday. Between outside linebackers
“Each and every week (the pass rush) has got to be effective but especially when you’re playing another great quarterback in Andrew,” Fangio said on the radio. “He’s very mobile quarterback… He’s a guy that we have to keep in and get some rush and pressure on him as we go.”
