Morning Tailgate: 49ers to Watch the Super Bowl?

Posted Jan 22, 2014

Stung by their loss in Seattle, members of the team responded to this question about February's big game.

Yes, the 49ers planned on playing in the Super Bowl.

But will they sit down in front of the TV with the rest of America to watch it?

“Probably not,” safety Eric Reid said, “but my feelings may change by the time it gets here.”

The NFC champ Seattle Seahawks and AFC titleholder Denver Broncos meet in New Jersey on Feb. 2, 2014.

“I’ll watch it,” outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks said this week. “I’m not going to go, but I’ll watch it.”

The other question to consider: Will the 49ers be rooting for their divisional rival or Peyton Manning and the Broncos?

After all, inside linebacker Patrick Willis had intimated he would be more inclined to see the NFC's winner best the AFC's.

His coach has another opinion.

“The team that plays the best,” Jim Harbaugh said of his leaning. “The team that plays the hardest is the one I root for. That’ll play out a week from Sunday.”
