Manningham Agrees to Two-Year Deal

Posted Mar 22, 2012

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed WR Mario Manningham to a two-year deal.

"We are very pleased to add a player like Mario to our team," said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. "Although it is still early in his NFL career, he is a productive wide receiver with a lot of big game experience. He will be a nice compliment to our current wide receiver group and a good fit for our offensive system.”

Manningham (6-0, 185) was originally drafted by the New York Giants in the third round (95th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. Over his four-year career, Manningham has played in 49 games (28 starts) and has recorded 160 receptions for 2,315 yards and 18 touchdowns.

This past season, Manningham played in 12 regular season games (10 starts) tallying 39 receptions for 523 yards and 4 touchdowns. In the playoffs, Manningham played in 4 games (2 starts) recording 13 receptions for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns. He made a critical 38-yard reception in the Super Bowl on the team’s go-ahead touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter. In 2010, Manningham notched single-season career-highs in receptions (60), receiving yards (944) and touchdowns (9).

The 25-year-old native of Warren, OH, starred collegiately at the University of Michigan, playing in 34 games (24 starts) and hauling in 137 receptions for 2,310 yards and 27 touchdowns.
