Then-Southern Illinois quarterback
Faulkner won't be sharing at the San Francisco 49ers rookie minicamp this weekend... unless Harbaugh jumps under center.
The undrafted free agent signee was one of 41 rookies to take the team's practice fields in Santa Clara on Friday, but he's the only signal-caller. He'll be throwing passes to third-round draft pick
"That's how you get better," said Faulkner, who was under Eastern Illinois-turned-New England Patriot Jimmy Garoppolo's shadow at his Pro Day. "When coach Harbaugh gives me any instruction, I definitely want him to see me working hard."
Harbaugh has his sources.
"You can him taking drops in the hallway of the Mariott hotel the last couple days. He's really dilligent, he's really into it, he's veryy conscientious," Harbaugh said. "And it shows up when he comes out here. He's calling the plays in the huddle, moving the offense, getting 'em up to the line of scrimmage and making very few mistakes, so you can tell that he's studying, he's listening, he's taken it back to the hotel."
Faulkner, who previously told 49ers.com about his study habits, confirmed the report.
"If I have five extra hours in the afternoon to study the playbook, I'll do it in the hallway," the rookie said. "I went out in the hallway and started doing some footwor stuff. It kept me busy, and I'm still not where I want to be, but putting in time outside of the practice fields for a quarterback is huge.
"The level of play is night and day, so you're going to make mistakes."
Harbaugh's advice: Don't make the same one twice.
