Kap Reacts to 'Greatest' QB Comment

Posted Aug 21, 2013

ESPN's Ron Jaworski commented on SportsCenter Wednesday that he thinks the 49ers QB could be one of the greatest ever.

ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski received heavy social media attention on Wednesday for a Colin Kaepernick-related comment on SportsCenter.

“I truly believe Colin Kaepernick could be one of the greatest quarterbacks ever,” Jaworski, a former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback said, via SportsCenter’s Twitter account.

In response to the praise, Kaepernick maintained his humble approach when addressing the words of the longtime ESPN analyst.

“I’m working,” the 49ers starting quarterback said. “To me, it’s a great honor that he said that. I’m very flattered by that, but at the same time, I haven’t played a full season yet.”

Kaepernick has yet to play much in the preseason either.

The 49ers are looking to avoid any “freakish” injuries to the starting signal-caller. Kaepernick has played one series in each of the first two weeks of the preseason. The careful approach has extended into recent practice sessions.

Kaepernick has been wearing a black jersey in practice to avoid being hit by the defense. It’s something Jim Harbaugh instituted after Ahmad Brooks almost collided with Kaepernick on Monday.

“It didn’t scare me at all,” the 49ers quarterback said, before noting he didn’t like wearing the jersey in practice.

Kaepernick wants to play as much as possible. It’s hard to keep a competitor like him out of action.

“I would play every snap if they let me.”
