“Any time we acquire a player we give him a clean slate, along with every opportunity to demonstrate his value to our organization, both on the field and in the community,” 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said. “It will be no different in Jonathan’s case. As a former Stanford student-athlete, we are very familiar with Jonathan and look forward to working with him.”
Martin (6-5, 312) was originally selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He has started all 23 games he has appeared in - 13 games at right tackle and 10 at left tackle.
Martin, a 24-year-old native of Studio City, CA, played collegiately at Stanford where he appeared in 39 games (37 starts). As a junior, Martin earned First-Team All-America honors and was a finalist for the 2011 Lombardi Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding lineman.
