Frank Gore was not on the field during the final plays of the 49ers NFC Championship game loss in Seattle on Sunday. Turned out, Gore may not have been an able pass-catcher during San Francisco's ill-fated comeback attempt.
Jim Harbaugh revealed in his season-wrapping media session with reporters that Gore broke his right ring finger during the physical title game.
"I did not know about it until after the game," the coach said.
Gore, the franchise's all-time leading rusher, carried the ball 11 times for 14 yards and caught a 17-yard pass in the defeat.
Harbaugh also offered injury updates on the following players:
Left guard Mike Iupati, who broke a bone in his lower left leg in the second quarter: "His fracture will be casted."
Left tackle Joe Staley, who dislocated his thumb in the first half: "I was aware that. He played well."
Cornerback Chris Culliver, who suffered a season-ending knee injury during training camp: "Chris was out sprinting (Monday)."
Nose tackle Ian Williams, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2: "He is back walking around and is well on his way (with) a grueling rehab."
