New 49ers center
Q: After playing for the New Orleans Saints for the past five seasons, what really drew you to joining a new team?
A: The coaching staff made me feel wanted and that was big in the decision. It was a tough decision for me; I came close to the guys on the o-line down there. But I really felt like they wanted me here and just the talent on the team and the whole coaching staff is what drew me here.
Q: With offensive linemen always being so close as a group, what’s it been like building new relationships with your teammates on the line?
A: It’s been good so far. Guys have been trying to welcome me with open arms and you rarely find an offensive line group that doesn’t do stuff like that. It’s making my transition easier and hopefully we can keep building chemistry.
Q: Jim Harbaugh and
A: That always helps when you’ve got some alumni around. Last night Coach had us stand up and sing the Michigan fight song – It’s been a while since I sung that. I spent one year at Michigan with Braylon, so that gave me another guy on the team that I knew pretty well.
Q: What are your thoughts on the offense as a whole here with the 49ers and what you’ve been exposed to so far?
A: It’s definitely an exciting offense. It’s real similar to the one I ran in New Orleans. The terminology is different so I’m trying to get that down, but hopefully we can become an explosive offense this year.
Q: Now that you’re going through your first training camp here with the 49ers, what are your first impressions of this camp environment?
A: The weather is way different. It’s kind of odd practicing and not sweating for no reason, but I love the weather it’s definitely a change. No complaints from me about that.
