The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a trade with the Indianapolis Colts. The 49ers will receive an undisclosed draft choice in return for sending linebacker Cam Johnson to the Colts. Johnson must pass a physical in Indianapolis for the trade to be executed.
“We appreciate Cam’s efforts since joining our team a year ago,” said San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke. “He has continued to grow as a football player and we wish him all the best with his new opportunity in Indianapolis.”
The following players have been signed to the 49ers practice squad:
- T Carter Bykowski
- RB Jewel Hampton
- WR Chuck Jacobs
- CB Darryl Morris
- G Patrick Omameh
- NT Mike Purcell
- S Mike Thomas
Johnson was originally selected by the 49ers in the seventh round (237th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft from the University of Virginia. He spent the majority of his rookie season on the team’s practice squad before being promoted to the active roster on December 22. Johnson went on to appear in the final two regular season games of the year.
A Third-Team All-ACC selection in 2010, Johnson appeared in 42 games (34 starts) during his four-year collegiate career for the Cavaliers. A native of Greenbelt, MD, he attended Gonzaga College High School.
