Ahmad Brooks Has Appreciation of Teammates

Posted Nov 15, 2013

"The people in our building know how good he is," Vic Fangio said of the 49ers leader in sacks.

Patrick Willis, seen leading the huddle, is the vociferous leader. Justin Smith, seen fighting off double-teams, is the gritty veteran. Aldon Smith, seen taking quarterbacks off their feet, is the sack-master.

Then there is Ahmad Brooks on the 49ers defense.

“Ahmad’s been a great player for us for three years," San Francisco's defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said Thursday. "He hadn’t gotten quite the notoriety that some of the other guys have gotten. But, trust me, the other players and the people in our building know how good he is and how important he is for us.”

Brooks currently leads the 49ers in sacks, with 5.5, and he’s often setting the strong side’s edge versus the running game.

This makes him a qualified candidate for his first Pro Bowl appearance in seven NFL seasons.

San Francisco's center is the captain of the offensive line, directing traffic for the NFL's No. 4 rushing attack. He went to the Pro Bowl his final season with the New Orleans Saints, in 2010.

While he's not on the pace of his six-interception debut season with the 49ers in 2011, the year he earned his first Pro Bowl nod, Rogers has locked down the slot again this year.

Rogers' fellow starter at cornerback still seeks his first pick, but he's recovered two key fumbles so far in 2013 while covering opposing team's No. 1 wideouts.

The longest-turned 49ers player and a three-time Pro Bowler, Lee ranks first in the NFC with a 48.6 yard-per-punt average entering the team's Week 11 matchup.
